“Back to McMurdo for the third winter” Velvetnron’s photos around McMurdo Station, Antarctica

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to McMurdo Station, Antarctica by TravelPod blogger Velvetnron titled “Back to McMurdo for the third winter” Velvetnron’s travel blog entry: “We’re back again for ONE more winter. It’s good to be “home” once again. Of course, it’s not really home but it’s the only place where we have a room that’s our own. And all of our stuff is here too. I’m happy to be back here and I’m looking forward to a pretty awesome winter. My work situation is really making me happy…I couldn’t ask for a better one. I’m back in the plumbing warehouse again and loving it. The longest amount of time that Ron and I spent in one place during our time off was our last three weeks of vacation that we spent in Northern Wisconsin. It was a nice relaxing time and it was a relief to know that we didn’t have to go anywhere or do anything. That’s sort of what it feels like to be back down here for the winter–a relief that we don’t have to do anything different for 9 months. Vacation is fun but it’s also alot of moving around and flying and living out of a suitcase…you get tired after awhile. Things are really busy around here right now–there are probably still around 1000 people on station and we’re trying to get the resupply vessel unloaded. It’s the time where all the winter-overs are waiting for all the summer people (some refer to them as “tourists”) to go home so we can settle in. The last flight out is later this year, probably into the first week
